Gel plates: Gel plates are made of a resin gel that is overlaid onto a traditional metal number plate. The gel layer creates a 3D effect, making the text and design stand out. Gel plates are often seen on high-end or luxury vehicles, as they can be more expensive than traditional number plates.

Carbon plates: Carbon plates are made of a carbon fiber styled material, which is lightweight and strong. Carbon plates are popular with sports car owners, as they give a sporty look to a vehicle.

Laser cut plates: Laser cut plates are made using a high-powered laser to cut the design and text into the metal. Laser cut plates can be very detailed and precise, and they offer a modern look to a vehicle. Laser cut plates can be more expensive than traditional plates, but they are durable and long-lasting.

Neon number plates: Neon number plates are made of an acrylic material with neon lighting behind the letters and numbers. Neon number plates are popular with car enthusiasts who want to add a unique look to their vehicle.

Gel infusion plates: Gel infusion plates are similar to gel plates, but they are made using a different process. The design and text are infused into the plate, creating a 3D effect without the need for a separate gel layer. Gel infusion plates are durable and long-lasting, and they offer a unique look to a vehicle.

4D plates, also known as 4D laser cut plates, are similar to laser cut plates but offer a 3D effect to the design and text. The extra dimension is created using a special lens that reflects light differently depending on the angle. 4D plates are becoming increasingly popular due to their unique look and durability.

Sparkle plates: Sparkle plates are made using a special material that reflects light in a way that creates a sparkling effect. The material is overlaid onto a traditional metal number plate to create a shimmering effect that is eye-catching and unique. Sparkle plates are often used on high-end vehicles or for special occasions such as weddings or proms.

When buying number plates online, the only way to operate fully legally is for the Registered Number Plate Supplier to see the original documents. If you aren’t local to us in West Yorkshire, you will need to send us the documents for us to verify the plates being bought are registered to a vehicle. The process is simple and the steps to take are explained in depth after you have placed your order. Once we have received your documents, and verified their validity we will produce your number plates and send them using a tracked postal service.

Legal

The rules for custom number plates in the UK are:

- The number plate must be made of a reflective material.

- The number plate must display black characters on a white background on the front plate and black characters on a yellow background on the rear plate.

- The characters must be of a specific font, size, and spacing.

- The number plate must display the name and postcode of the supplier, along with their British Standard number.

- The number plate must not be damaged, obscured, or otherwise difficult to read.

Thus by law we include our company name, postcode and BSAU number on the plate. The font style for all our plates is Charles Wright which is the legal UK road font, compliant with the law.

The DVLA confirm that three-dimensional characters are legal and compliant with road laws, this includes ‘4D’ number plates, as 4D is only an industry standard name, and they are still classed as three-dimensional.

Not all of the numberplates we offer here at Your Plates are fully street-legal. Plates that are not street legal have a warning in the description on our online store. These are for show purposes only- add onto your vehicle at your own risk
